It’s World Book and Copyright Day and, while Publishers Inc was busy with everything from marketing to attending a fantastic event organised by White Light Media, we also wanted to take a minute to consider the upcoming Publishers Inc app.
In Publishers Inc 2015, we ask if the law that provides economic value from creative endeavours is keeping with up with the times? How can publishers make use of the many changes in intellectual property law that have been introduced in the last decade?
Way back in 2010, even David Cameron was getting in on the Copyright Reform act, suggesting that reviewing our IP laws, to make them fit for the internet age, would be the harbinger of success:
“The founders of Google have said they could never have started their company in Britain…they feel our copyright system is not as friendly to this sort of innovation as it is in the United States…I want to encourage the sort of creative innovation that exists in America.”
You can see what the new copyright reforms might mean for publishing in the new edition of Publishers Inc. – download the app soon!
