Fiona Brownlee video interview with Publishers Inc

Publishers Inc managed to grab a few minutes of top publishing professional Fiona Brownlee‘s time at Publishing Scotland‘s annual Scottish Book Trade conference in Edinburgh in February this year. Fiona was also in the middle of a a big cross-Atlantic rights deal for one of her Scottish publisher-clients and so we were doubly grateful to her for taking the time to speak to us.

Fiona has over 23 years of PR, marketing and rights experience in the publishing industry, both in London and Edinburgh. She has twice won the prestigious PPC (Publishers’ Publicity Circle) Annual Award. Furthermore, she is on the board of the Edinburgh International Book Festival for 13 years, a committee member of PPC (London) and ASLA (the Association of Scottish Literary Agents) and on the board of Publishing Scotland.

We were delighted that she agreed to do the interview for the Marketing Masterclass article in this year’s edition of our iPad magazine app. Fiona told us a little of her background, why marketing books was different to marketing other products and why selling rights should be considered a valid and valuable marketing activity.

Enjoy!
