An update on student’s plans for London Book Fair
By Lindsay Flannigan
With London Book Fair in sight, students begin their preparations for the biggest publishing event of the year!
Having just received our tickets for the long train journey from Edinburgh to London for the annual London Book Fair, preparations for the huge industry event are kick started into action.
This year MSc publishing students at Edinburgh Napier University are working on four publications: Robert Louis Stevenson’s Olalla, Christine Orr’s The Glorious Thing, Catherine Carswell’s The Camomile, and an ebook of Sunset Song by Lewis Grassic Gibbon. Negotiations for the rights to The Glorious Thing and The Camomile are still on going.
London Book Fair is the prime opportunity for us to showcase our hard work on each new edition through the medium of marketing.
Many publishers flock to Earls Court in April to showcase their newest and forthcoming publications by taking advantage of the vast publicity the event reels in.
The marketing teams are hard at work in creating promotional material. From teaching ourselves origami to utilizing our InDesign skills to create flyers, and even spending a day stuffing giveaway bags with sweets, we are investigating a range of creative solutions to make each of our products stand out from the vast sea of new publications that will be showcased at London Book Fair.
London Book Fair takes place 15th-17th April at Earls Court Exhibition Centre, Warwick Road, London.
